Research
Aegis Council places research and knowledge dissemination at the core of its activities. We recognize that generating knowledge and sharing are mutually reinforcing. Our research agenda hinges on enhancing the international policy debate and bringing greater accountability to the democratic process for a sustainable and peaceful society. We examine critical economic and social shifts, country specific challenges and opportunities and put new ideas and proposals—from near to long-term—into the hands of decision makers for greater impact.
Research topics broadly cover Canadian foreign policy and diplomacy in Africa, international development, governance, economics, international law and politics. Our research is interdisciplinary and integrates perspectives from a variety of disciplines—ethics, geopolitics, sociology, cultural ideas, political economy, international constitutional law and feminist approaches to nurture a panoramic view of what lies ahead.
The research program and recommendations are grounded in impassioned analysis and our contributors reflect divergent standpoints to inform policy debate.
