Politics & Governance
The Politics & Governance Program (PGP) explores transformations in the political, socio-economic and security architecture, and connect these changes to wider global trends. Drawing on international frameworks and the different dynamics of contemporary governance trends, we offer forward thinking analysis that spurs new insights and policy recommendations to influence broad constituents in the Canadian and African society. In particular, we articulate how colonial legacies, greater interconnectedness and population growth are shaping political systems, resource governance, peace and security, and their implications for Canada and partner African states as well as the larger global society.
The PGP explores the characteristics of good governance—authority, decision making, transparency and accountability—to chart new directions for Canada-Africa policy and advance peacebuilding and state building processes.
