OVERVIEW AND THEME OF RWANDA 2022
- This year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government 26th meeting was held in Kigali-Rwanda during the week of June 20-25, 2022, under the theme of “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming”.
- The theme is part of initiatives to “f recovery from the COVID-19 pande respond to conflict and crises to inc and progress…”
- The Heads of State discussed governance, human rights, rule of law covid 19 pandemic, youth, technology and innovation and sustainability.
FOCAL POINT
CLIMATE CHANGE AND CLIMATE FINANCE
- In recognizing the crucial role of investment in transforming economies and creating inclusive and log-term economic growth and prosperity, The Head of States acknowledged the urgency of enhancing immigration, adaptation, and financing efforts to address the gaps in the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
- The Heads observed not only the failure that characterised the mutual mobilization of US $100 billion per year by 2020 by advanced countries but also hailed increased pledges and the Climate Finance Delivery Plan: Meeting the US $100 Billion Goal through to 2025 while demonstrating openness.
Climate Finance Access Hub (CCFAH)
- Heads of State welcomed the continued support of the CCFAH to help member countries with human and institutional capacity to access available climate finance for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) implementation—climate policy support.
- The CCFAH assists small and vulnerable member states to bid for and gain increased access to climate finance.

- Membership was once limited to British colonies, but the Commonwealthnow accepts any country to join.
- The ceremonial Head of the Commonwealth is held by British Monarch
