Event and Partnership Development Coordinators

We are seeking Event and Partnership Development Coordinators to join a team of dedicated individuals to plan the launch of Aegis Council’s programs, activities and services as well as future events.  

The Aegis Council identifies strategic partners who are in the forefront of policy decisions to engage with the public on important contemporary issues, and also facilitate network meetings among stakeholders who have a vested interested in Canadian and African affairs. We believe that progress happens when we mobilize people and resources from the nook and cranny of the world to take political action to help create a greener and resilient economy. 

 In so doing, we fuse and balance the best of different types of organizations from the public and private sectors, international organizations and academic institutions who believe and share in our cause.   

The incumbents play a key role in planning and executing events that support the growth and priorities of the Aegis Council with the aim of reaching targeted audiences for a maximum impact.  

Event and Partnerships Development Coordinator positions are part of Aegis Council’s internship and training program designed to offer new graduates the opportunity to hone their skills in a globally competitive job market.  

The positions are available for a period of five month on a full/part time basis and is unpaid. Openings are available throughout the year. If selected, you will be working under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer.

As early members of the Event and Partnership Development team, you will help create the processes that ensure that our brand development priorities and core values are extended through innovative partnerships and high-quality management of key partner relationships. You will help by prospecting and identifying key stakeholders and help them understand the value of our work.

Your responsibilities will involve

  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing event activities;
  • Prospecting into key government institutions and programs, foundations, communities, granting agencies within Canada and Africa and compiling a database of partners and programs that can increase the reach and user base of the Aegis Council 
  • Evaluating and prioritizing opportunities in support of the broader partner strategy, including developing a case for partnerships, building and owning the partnership strategy, execution plan and leading negotiations when applicable.
  •  Identify and prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations 
  • Educating prospective partners on the value of Aegis Council’s work and maintain a network of relationships across the public and private spheres, and representing the corporation externally 
  • Monitoring partnership performance and maintaining a network of relationships with stakeholders to ensure compliance and fulfilment of commitments
  • Determining logistical details and activities for programming and events
  • Conducting post-event evaluation, analysis and proposals for change 
  • Analyzing the impact of events on stakeholder engagements

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Communications, Human Resource, Business Administration, Marketing or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. 

Competencies

  • Strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiator, judgment and analytical skills
  • Compelling oral and written communicator who can drive the strategic direction of the corporation internally and externally 
  • Ability to make actionable recommendations under minimal structure and build consensus with stakeholders 
  • Structured with excellent planning, execution and project management skills. 
  • Ability to stay informed of key industry trends to make recommendations
  • Competent in modern marketing techniques to reach targeted audiences that results in partner success  

Work Environment

Incumbents work remotely and may occasionally be required to go to the office if there is a need to.
